Head Gardener
Tenure: Full Time
Salary: Up to £30,000 p/annum + Company Vehicle

Stephen Ogilvie Garden Design are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and qualified head gardener to join our growing horticultural team, handling a portfolio of stunning private gardens and estates in and around Edinburgh.
The successful Head Gardener candidate will have excellent plant, pest and diseases identification skills, knowledge of how and when to prune shrubs and trees, how to care for herbaceous borders and experience of planting new gardens. There are opportunities to design new borders and subsequent planting plans for new and existing gardens. Experience of managing clients and small teams would be preferable.
As this is a role for a horticulturalist, we ask that candidates are qualified to RHS Level 3 or equivalent, hold a PA1 & PA6 spraying license (or similar) and ideally a chainsaw license. Experience of horticultural equipment and a full, clean driving license is also required.
We provide a uniform, PPE and all necessary tools and equipment, as well as opportunities for additional qualifications and courses that are relevant to the role.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am – 4.30pm. We will consider either full or part-time for the right applicant.

Landscape Designer/Landscape Architect
Tenure: Full time
Salary: Competitive – Dependent upon experience

Key objectives of the role:
Create beautiful and compelling designs that can satisfy a range of clients
Manage designs from start to finish, communicating with the client, architects, and other design disciplines.
Quantify and estimate project construction costs for presentation to client
Help develop company process & scope
Responsibilities:
Meeting clients independently; taking briefs and preparing professional fee proposals.
Surveying sites independently and organising specialist surveys as required.
Writing clear design briefs for client presentation
Designing excellent garden/landscape schemes to presentation standard
Create imaginative planting plans suitable for site conditions, produce schedules and liaise with British and Dutch nursery suppliers.
Create well-annotated 2D plans, and build accurate and visually stunning 3D models (Sketchup)
Producing fully detailed site construction packages, including layout plans, service plans and detailed construction drawings.
Work with our in-house estimation system to produce fully detailed cost packages for clients.
Work alongside Construction managers and site Foreman to detail works programmes, material orders and oversee general project management tasks for the duration of the build.
Work effectively with different teams and attend site visits.
Keep pace with new products, materials, design ideas and current trends
Demonstrate enthusiasm and attention to detail in all aspects of the role
Essential attributes:
Fully qualified Landscape Designer/ Garden Designer or Landscape Architect
Enthusiastic and client facing
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent Design Skills
Good horticultural knowledge
Good knowledge of construction detailing and material use
Excellent organisational and planning skills
Must have a full UK driving license and vehicle
Must be within driving distance of our studio and willing to travel
Required qualifications
Undergraduate or Post-Graduate Degree / Diploma in Landscape Architecture or Garden Design
Strong knowledge and experience of SketchUp, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) and preferably experience of a rendering software package.
Experience of MS Excel
Current Vacancies - Construction Team
Landscape Foreman - This role would suit an experienced candidate with proven experience in building quality gardens. You would be responsible for one of our construction sites and lead a team of up to three landscapers. An ability to read architectural drawing packages is essential. We are looking for a motivated, personable candidate to represent the company and create amazing outdoor spaces.
Landscaper - Working as part of our landscape team, you would be responsible for assisting with all aspects of garden construction. This position would suit a motivated candidate with some experience in the landscape sector, looking to improve their knowledge and skill set.
