Head Gardener
Tenure: Full Time
Salary: Up to £35,000 p/annum

Stephen Ogilvie Ltd is an award winning Garden Design, Build and Horticulture company based in Edinburgh. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and proactive Head Gardener to join our dynamic gardening team, managing a portfolio of stunning private gardens and estates in Edinburgh, Perthshire and the Scottish Borders, to the highest standard.
The successful candidate will have:
– Extensive plant identification skills
– Knowledge of how and when to prune shrubs and trees
– Herbaceous border care and development
– Experience using a range of horticultural tools and machinery
– Knowledge of good Health & Safety practices
– Pesticide certificates (PA1 & 6 as a minimum), Chainsaw licence preferable
– Relevant horticultural qualifications (Degree, HND or RHS Level 2)
– At least 5 years experience working in high-end gardens and/or estates
– Experience of managing clients and small teams preferable
– Full, clean driving license
– Excellent communication skills
There are also opportunities to help design new borders and subsequent planting plans for new and existing gardens, as well as managing team schedules and client visits.
We provide a uniform, PPE and all necessary tools and equipment, as well as opportunities for additional qualifications and courses that are relevant to the role.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am – 4.30pm. We will consider either full or part-time for the right applicant.
